Fanconi anemia (FA) is a heterogeneous autosomal recessive disease characterized by congenital abnormalities, pancytopenia, and an increased incidence of cancer. Cells cultured from FA patients display elevated spontaneous chromosomal breaks and deletions and are hypersensitive to bifunctional cross-linking agents.
