Proopiomelanocortin (POMC) is a precursor of ACTH, beta- and gamma-liportopins, alpha-, beta- and gamma-MSH, beta-endorphin. alpha-, beta- and gamma-MSH are synthesized by hypothalamus neurons, and leptin stimulates their synthesis.
