The recent discovery that many cancer cells have centrosomal abnormalities suggests a link between centrosomes and cancer. Members of the transforming acidic coiled-coil (TACC) family of proteins have been implicated in cancer and are concentrated at centrosomes, where they regulate microtubule stability.
