Phenylethanolamine N-methyltransferase (PNMT), the terminal enzyme of the catecholamine biosynthesis pathway, catalyzes the conversion of norepinephrine (NE) to epinephrine (EPI). PNMT is a candidate gene for multiple sclerosis (MS) for two reasons.
