Atypical protein kinase C (PKC) isoforms are required for nerve growth factor (NGF)-initiated differentiation of PC12 cells. In the present study, we report that PKC-iota becomes tyrosine phosphorylated in the membrane coincident with activation posttreatment with nerve growth factor.
