Glioblastoma cells express a mutant EGF receptor (EGFRvIII) that has constitutive tyrosine kinase activity and enhances their tumorigenicity. Here we show that EGFRvIII promotes constitutive phosphorylation of extracellular regulated kinases (ERKs) in glioblastoma cells in the absence of EGF.
