Loss of heterozygosity (LOH) of chromosome 6p21 is an important mechanism that generates HLA haplotype loss in various human tumors. This mechanism produces non-reversible HLA-deficient tumor cells that can escape T cell immune responses in peptide-vaccinated cancer patients.
