CRAM is a cysteine-rich acidic transmembrane protein, highly expressed in the procyclic form of Trypanosoma brucei. Cell surface expression of CRAM is restricted to the flagellar pocket of trypanosomes, the only place where receptor mediated endocytosis takes place in the parasite.
