Bent tail is a mouse model for human neural tube defects. Bent tail mice are characterized by a shortened, kinked tail. We have observed numerous aberrations in Bent tail embryos including exencephaly, rotation defects and occasionally omphalocele, orofacial schisis and situs abnormalities.
