The SGS1 of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a homologue of the Bloom's syndrome and Werner's syndrome genes. The sgs1 disruptants show hyperrecombination, higher sensitivity to methyl methanesulfonate and hydroxyurea, and poor sporulation.
