Interleukin (IL)-13 and IL-4 are pleiotropic immunoregulatory cytokines that share many overlapping biological properties reflecting the fact that both can utilize a receptor complex composed of the IL-4 receptor-alpha (IL-4Ralpha) chain and the IL-13Ralpha chain.
