How are epigenomic pattern differences between fish with divergent cortisol reactivity calibrated against age, tissue, developmental stage, and baseline population variation? A continuous measure of separation from each reference distribution would help distinguish a broad signature from a partial match driven by a subset of loci. Does the study report whether classification strength remains stable across those reference contexts?

Calibrating gestational epigenetic alterations across tissues

For epigenetic alterations associated with maternal fasting during early gestation, are effect sizes compared with gestational age and tissue specific reference distributions? The interpretation would differ if the reported pattern falls within normal developmental variation, persists across tissues, or only partially resembles a schizophrenia related signature. How are those possibilities separated, and is uncertainty in the match reported continuously rather than as presence or absence?

Ancestry adjustment and episignature calibration

When ancestry adjustment changes an epigenome-wide signal, how should that propagate into diagnostic methylation matching? I would want match scores compared before and after adjustment within age- and tissue-matched reference distributions, with attention to whether uncertain or partial matches move across the reference range. Does the study report enough about calibration to distinguish removal of population structure from attenuation of a biologically relevant signature?
