<h4>Background: </h4> The FIGLA or BHLHC8 plays a dominant role in ovary formation and folliculogenesis and controls oocyte maturation and somatic cell function. The FIGLA gene encodes a bHLH domain in the germ cell as an activator and inhibitor of the oocyte. The oocyte-specific gene is necessary for oogenesis, pluripotency, and embryonic growth.
