<h4>Background</h4> Biallelic loss-of-function mutations in PRKN gene (encoding Parkin protein) cause early-onset Parkinson’s disease (EOPD). Parkin is a crucial component of PINK1-Parkin pathway, which marks damaged mitochondria for degradation via mitophagy.
