<h4>SUMMARY</h4> Syntaxins - a conserved family of SNARE proteins - contain C-terminal transmembrane anchors required for their membrane fusion activity. Here we show that syntaxin 3 (Stx3) unexpectedly also functions as a nuclear regulator of gene expression.
