<h4>Abstracts</h4> Chronic excessive ethanol consumption produces distinct toxic and adverse effects on different tissues. In skeletal muscle ethanol causes alcoholic myopathy characterized by myofiber atrophy and loss of muscle strength. Alcoholic myopathy is more prevalent than all inherited muscle diseases combined.
