Cryptomeria japonica (sugi; Japanese cedar) and Chamaecyparis obtusa (hinoki; Japanese cypress) are woods widely used in Japan for building and/or interior materials, furniture, and tableware. The relaxation effects of these wood-derived aromas on humans have been reported.
