Abstract Background: The α/β-hydrolase domain 2 (ABHD2) genes which was expressed in the alveolar type II cells (AT-II cells) have been identified as down-regulated genes in human emphysematous lungs. Meanwhile, ABHD2 is considered a triacylglycerol lipase.
