Toxoplasma motility is both activated and suppressed by 3’-5’ cyclic nucleotide signaling. Cyclic GMP (cGMP) signaling through TgPKG activates motility, whereas cyclic AMP (cAMP) signaling through TgPKAc1 inhibits motility.
