BACKGROUND Children with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) are at increased risk of developing benign and malignant solid tumors as well as hematologic malignancies, including de novo juvenile chronic myelogenous leukemia, monosomy 7 syndrome, and acute myelogenous leukemia.
