Abstract excerpt
African swine fever virus (ASFV) causes a severe hemorrhagic disease in domestic pigs resulting in high case fatality rates. The virus replicates in circulating cells of the monocyte-macrophage lineage and within lymphoid tissues, e.g. tonsils, spleen and lymph nodes.
