Intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) plays an important role in the cascade of adhesion events in the homing of inflammatory cells to the central nervous system (CNS) in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and in multiple sclerosis (MS).
