Mice homozygous for the recessive mutation oscillator (Glra1(spd-ot)) suffer from a complex motor disorder leading to death within three weeks after birth. Symptoms of this disorder mimic poisoning by strychnine, the antagonist of the inhibitory glycine receptor.
