We have examined DNA from four human esophageal carcinoma cell lines and 50 primary esophageal carcinomas obtained from China, Italy, and France for amplification of the cyclin D1 gene. We also examined 36 of these 50 carcinomas for expression of the cyclin D1 and retinoblastoma (RB) proteins by immunohistochemistry.
