The highly variable mouse minisatellite Hm-2 is located on chromosome 9 and consists of GGCA tetranucleotide repeats with alleles containing up to 5000 repeat units. This locus is unstable with a germline mutation rate to new length alleles of at least 3.6% per gamete.
