The ability of platelet activating factor (PAF), a potent endogenous inflammatory agent, to induce phenotypic transformation of primary rat embryo cells (RECs) was investigated. RECs are composed predominantly of fibroblasts, with some epithelial cells and a few neuronal and muscle cells.
