The majority of the 1H NMR resonances of the protons in a tetradecamer containing the -35 region of the trp promoter d(GCTGTTGACAATTA): d(TAATTGTCAACAGC) and in the TA transversion have been assigned. The conformational properties of the nucleotides have been determined and compared in the two duplexes.
