We investigated the nitrous oxide-induced inactivation of methionine synthase and the concurrent homocysteine (Hcy) export in mutant fibroblasts with defects in the homocysteine catabolizing enzyme, cystathionine beta-synthase, or in methionine synthase, which carries out homocysteine remethylation.
