We examined the frequency, distribution, and immunophenotype (S-100 protein, CD1) of epidermal Langerhans cells (LC) in the epidermis overlying primary melanoma, and dermal dendritic cells (DC) in the dermis deep to melanoma, and in adjacent normal skin.
