We have analyzed mutations in exon 8 of the hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (hprt) gene in T-lymphocytes from the spleens of ethylnitrosourea-treated female rats. Presumptive hprt- mutants were isolated by clonal growth in the presence of 6-thioguanine.
