We presented indirect evidence that in an excision-deficient rad3 mutant of yeast exposed to diepoxybutane (DEB), DNA synthesis continued past the damaged sites. This bypass replication was confined to the first post-treatment round of replication and was followed by inhibition of DNA synthesis.
