Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a neurogenetic disorder caused by loss-of-function mutations in the gene neurofibromin 1 (NF1). NF1 encodes neurofibromin, a multifunctional tumor-suppressing protein that regulates Ras, cAMP and dopamine signaling.
