INTRODUCTION: Thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) catalyzes the S-methylation of thiopurines (mercaptopurine (MP) and tioguanine (TG)), chemotherapeutic agents used in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
