The hyperthermophilic and radioresistant euryarchaeon Thermococcus gammatolerans encodes a putative 3-methlyadenine DNA glycosylase II (Tg-AlkA). Herein, we report biochemical characterization and catalytic mechanism of Tg-AlkA.
