Pilocytic astrocytomas as well as other pediatric low-grade gliomas (pLGG) exhibit genetic events leading to aberrant activation of the MAPK pathway. The most common alterations are KIAA1549:BRAF fusions and BRAFV600E and NF1 mutations.
