Idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDCM), characterized by ventricular dilation and impaired systolic function, is a primary cardiomyopathy resulting in heart failure. During heart contraction, the Z-line is responsible for transmitting force between sarcomeres and is also a hot spot for muscle cell signalling.
