BACKGROUND: The recent spread of artemisinin (ART)-resistant Plasmodium falciparum represents an emerging global threat to public health. In Southeast Asia, the C580Y mutation of kelch13 (k13) is the dominant mutation of ART-resistant P. falciparum.
