The suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS) proteins are negative regulators of the JAK/STAT pathway activated by proinflammatory cytokines, including the tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). SOCS3 is also implicated in hypertriglyceridemia associated to insulin resistance.
