PURPOSE: Carbonyl reductase (CBR) catalyzes anthracycline metabolism, and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in CBR impact metabolic efficiency. In pediatric patients, homozygosity for the major allele (G) in the CBR3 gene was associated with increased risk of anthracycline cardiotoxicity.
