OBJECTIVES: KRAS mutations are frequent in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, chronic pancreatitis, and mucinous neoplasms. In animal studies, KRAS mutations in acinar and Langerhans islets are associated with pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia.
