Approximately 85-90% of adult gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) harbor KIT and PDGFRA mutations. The remaining cases, including the majority of pediatric GISTs, lack these mutations, and have been designated as KIT/PDGFRA wild-type (WT) GISTs.
