Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are driven mostly by oncogenic KIT or PDGFRA mutations. However, in 10-15% of all GIST, no such activating mutations can be found and these tumors are classified as 'wild-type GIST' (KIT/PDGFRA wt-GIST).
