Data for 125 patients with cytogenetically normal acute myeloid leukemia (CN-AML) regarding BAALC and combinatorial molecular markers at diagnosis were evaluated. Fewer patients with higher BAALC expression at diagnosis achieved a complete remission (CR) (49.2 vs. 75.8%, p = 0.002) after the first cycle of chemotherapy, and there were more primary refractory cases (37.3 vs. 18.2%, p = 0.017).
