BACKGROUND: Thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) is a basic carboxypeptidase zymogen encoded by the human gene CPB2. TAFI constitutes a molecular link between coagulation and fibrinolysis, and between coagulation and inflammation.
