Non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) is an important mechanism for repairing DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs). The fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe has a conserved set of NHEJ factors including Ku, DNA ligase IV, Xlf1, and Pol4.
