Classical cadherins are important cell adhesion molecules specifying and separating brain nuclei and developmental compartments. Cadherin-22 (Cdh22) belongs to type II subfamily of classical cadherins, and is expressed at the midbrain-hindbrain boundary during early embryogenesis.
