BACKGROUND: Inosine triphosphate pyrophosphatase (ITPA) catalyzes the pyrophosphohydrolysis of inosine triphosphate to inosine monophosphate. Recently, single-nucleotide polymorphisms in the ITPA gene, associated with decreased enzyme activity, have been reported.
