A genome-wide association scan of the Genetics of Kidneys in Diabetes (GoKinD) collections identified four novel susceptibility loci, located on chromosomes 7p14.3, 9q21.32, 11p15.4, and 13q33.3 associated with type 1 diabetic nephropathy.
