In A. nidulans, the temperature-sensitive cell cycle mutation bimC4 causes an elevated mitotic index at restrictive temperature. Under restrictive conditions the mutation interferes with separation of the spindle pole bodies, causes abnormal spindle morphology, and prevents nuclear division.
