The expression of cytokine genes for tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha), lymphotoxin and transforming growth factor beta (TGF beta), all of which are known to suppress normal hematopoiesis, was investigated in 32 patients with lymphoid malignancies using Northern blot analysis.
